Are here we thought winter was over! It is so beautiful out there and at Oakridge we are happy for the snow. As much as we’ve been enjoying the warm temperatures this winter, the snow is a much needed necessity. It provides moisture and protection for our grass, shrubs, perennials and trees. So enjoy the beauty of the frosted trees knowing it is short lived, with sunny warm days soon to come. Plus in two short weeks, we’re in the greenhouse!! YEAH!
Happy Valentines Day from everyone here at Oakridge. We have fresh pie every Tuesday and isn’t that a coincidence, tomorrow is Tuesday.
Don’t forget about Rambling Dan Frechette and his two show weekend coming up. This Saturday and Sunday (18th & 19th), he’s rocking it out with the show starting at 730pm. Ask for the Valentines Special when reserving your seats and dessert and coffee are taken care of. See you there!
Valentines Day is just around the corner…and just in time, we have tons of new product coming in. Take some time to browse around, and find a hidden treasure for your special someone. I’ve never been a real sucker for Valentines Day. I like surprises and gifts, so I’m not sure why it’s never struck a cord with me. Maybe it’s the fact that I do like surprises…and Valentines Day can be so predictable. I like “out of the ordinary” gifts that show time was spent and thought put into it. That being said, I also love finding just the right gift for the ones that I love. The best feeling is knowing that you’ve made that one person FEEL so special….and see their smile!
If you’ve come for coffee in the last little while, I’m sure you’ve noticed the change to our menu. We have tried to simplify things and created standard pricing for your favorite drinks. For February, our specialty drinks are all things Valentine…cinnemon, chocolate, red and sweet. Our ‘Be my Valentine’ Latte is delicious. Just enough cinnemon, loaded with whipped cream and topped with cinnemon hearts that melt with the heat of the espresso and steamed milk. So good.
The Chocolate dipped Strawberry Mocha, is our traditional mocha with the sweetness of the added strawberry, and the Amore Mocha adds the smoothness factor with amaretto flavoring.
If you’re looking for something cool, the Raspberry Truffle Frappe is just that! It tastes just like a chocolate raspberry truffle blended with espresso and cream.
Bring your special someone out for a treat and enjoy the time together. We so often let the days slip away without spending quality time with those we hold the dearest and closest to our heart.

Jess Reimer held a lively concert, with traditonal folk off of her new ‘sweet darling and sorrow’ CD and bluegrass from her past Doug and Jess material. Her husband Jeremy accompanied her with his mandolin and a lovely fiddle that he had handcrafted himself. Jeremy really takes music instrument construction to a new level. He offers guitar building courses where once completed, you walk away from your very own personalized guitar.
Right on! It was a great turnout and fun was had by all. If you’ve never been to an Oakridge Cafe Concert, come on down and check it out for yourself.
Our next concert is featuring Rambling Dan in a 2 show weekend, February 18th & 19th. It’s the long weekend and conventiently after Valentines Day, so bring your honey out for one more ‘date night’!
Local artist, Jess Reimer has recently released her new album ‘Sweet Darling and Sorrow’. This collection of songs is sure to impress country, americana/canadiana, and folk music lovers alike. Our LIVE Christmas trees are here and we have so many varieties to choose from. Scotch Pine, Balsam Fir, Frazer Fir, the Nordman Fir, and the Douglas Fir to name a few. They range in sizes of 3-5ft all the way up to 11ft to fit any living room with vaulted ceilings.

This year we are once again opening our doors for you to come and get creative. These fresh greens classes include designing and arranging your own wreath, tabletop centrepiece or front door container. We are running classes every day of the week (except Sunday), call Erna or Theresa to book a time, and receive more details including costs.
Ages 4-10- Kids Class -$5.00/child, including Hot Chocolate
Custom Winter Bird Feeders is the theme. Hang them on your shrubs or trees and watch the birds eat at them all winter long!
Of course you can always bring us your containers and we’ll custom design them to your fancy, or choose one of our ready made ones to delite your holiday guests. Anna’s been busy!
