I get such cabin fever at this time of year. The greenhouse is shut down and the novalty of a slower pace of life has somewhat lost its appeal. Don’t get me wrong, I have tons of work I could and should be doing, but I get so excited about spring. The seed catalogues are starting to arrive and everything is ordered. We’ve been looking at pictures of flowers and plants and trees for months now and I want to just get going. It’s such an incredible adrenaline rush, and I wouldn’t be in this business if I didn’t love being in the greenhouse. I’ll be starting to give tips on germinating your own seeds at home in a couple of weeks, so stay tuned. You don’t want to start too early, because plants get too spindly and lanky to handle indoors. Instead, get planning, browse the catalogues, and check out our seed racks!
Day after day we get consumed by the frigid weather of January. It’s what we all talk about…”BRRRR, it’s cold outside, how are you handling it?” and of course “Where are you going on your HOT holiday?” The count down of when spring is going to arrive is constantly on our minds and especially mine. Things get kicked off here in the first week of March and we look forward to getting our hands dirty and into GROWING! Just to let you all know, IT IS JANUARY 31st! It is officially over! And I can’t wait for spring.
Anyone else tired of all of this snow?? I know I am, definitely. While Terry is the one clearing the Oakridge yard of all of this white stuff, I like to relish in a great cup of coffee that warms up my toes. Did you know that the Italian “Cappuccino” was named after the color of the Capuchin Monk’s habit – brown with a white hood. Ours is made with two shots of espresso mingled with steamed milk, and topped with a white hood of velvety foamed milk. Warm up your toes!!
We are SO excited to have our first CD release party! Dylan Cash is coming to town to debut his new CD “Heart & Soul” . The first show, Sat. Great concert Saturday night by the Detonators. Mel’s non-stop harmonica and Dan’s flying fingers on the guitar gave a high energy blues performance. I think we lifted the roof. Lots of fun.
One of my favorites! A mug of smooth chocolately fullbodied flavour with an espresso background. A hint of cherry and real whipped cream to top it off. MMmmmmmm!
Christmas is over and with putting away all of your seasonal decorations, you find space for something NEW! Whatever your style….traditional or shabby chic, modern and contemporary, we’ve just hung up some spectacular selections!
Deck your halls (or at least your windows) with our most popular garland. 4′ long, (one length covers the average window), the Icy Weeping Cedar is wispy, sparkly and Oh so Christmasy!
